Episode 100: Coming Of Age, Our 100th Episode! With “18 To Party” Director Jeff Roda

Coming Of Age, Our 100th Episode! With 18 To Party Director Jeff Roda

Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week, we “keep it a hundred” as we celebrate our 100th episode with a hostfull Skype call of Saturday Morning Cereal’s hosts and talk “coming of age movies”!

70’s, 80’s, 90’s and the 2000’s teen movies all have a unique spin on what’s it like to grow up. What do they get right? What do they get wrong? What makes a “coming of age” movie? What generation best owns our imaginations? What teen archetype are you? For most of us, John Hughes movies where the template for the genre but does the optimism of those baby boomer era teen flicks hold up to todays standards? Our hosts will talk about it all and to help us with the heavy lifting, we interview Jeff Roda the writer/director of 18 To Party (released VOD 12/01/20), the 80’s high school drama with a killer sound track and a slice of life, period piece look at growing up in a world we may never grow to understand.

Joining us for this jammed packed centennial celebration are Grim Shea, Marke., Slick McFavorite, Johnny Heck, Jimmy the Gent and the spirit of Holy Hobbits!
