FAIRFAX, VA (May 13, 2015) – Every legend has a beginning.  And this fall, Time Life, one of the premiere distributors of Classic TV on DVD, will unveil the very first steps of a TV icon with THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: THE LOST EPISODES.  Showcasing the early days of one of the most honored and beloved shows in television history, the DVD set will feature episodes from the program’s first five seasons – unseen by the public for more than 40 years!

Following the company’s enormously successful 2012 release of THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: ULTIMATE COLLECTION featuring the best of Seasons 6-11, THE LOST EPISODES will feature original, uncut episodes from Seasons1-5, hand-picked by Carol herself.  The iconic variety show’s first five seasons have been unseen since their original airing (1967-1972) and included in this highly-anticipated collection will be the show’s inaugural episode, the first performances of many of Carol’s most famous sketches ( including the debuts of As the Stomach Turns, “Carol and Sis” and “The Old Folks”), legendary guest stars, and show-stopping musical numbers.

You’ll see the magic of the Carol’s cast come together, plus an incredible array of guest stars including Carol’s hero, Lucille Ball, along with Bob Newhart, Don Rickles, Phyllis Diller, Jonathan Winters, Joan Rivers and many more!  THE LOST EPISODES will also include exclusive bonus materials featuring new interviews with guests, fans, and friends of Carol plus featurettes, bonus sketches and hilarious outtakes.

“I re-watched the earliest days of the show,” says Burnett, “with all its ‘firsts’ and incredible guests, and I have to admit – this stuff’s really good!  I hope you’ll have as much fun watching these shows as we had doing them.”

“No one has seen the first five seasons since they were originally aired – no re-runs, no web streaming, no VHS or DVD – nada!”, says Jeffrey Peisch, Senior Vice President, Entertainment Programming & Marketing for Time Life.  “We’re thrilled to be able to bring fans of ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ and Classic TV aficionados such rare treasures from one of the most iconic programs in television history.”

Fans of the show interested in receiving updates and exclusive content from THE LOS EPISODES can visit LostCarolEpisodes.com, the official Time Life site for this highly-anticipated release.
