From Tattooine to Hall H… The Maker Returns – George Lucas Comes to Comic-Con!

SATURDAY MORNING CEREAL ALERT:

For the First Time Ever,

George Lucas Comes to Comic-Con!

A Hall H Full-Circle Moment Years in the Making

From Tattooine to Hall H… The Maker Returns.

It’s finally happening. The man who launched a thousand cosplays and gave us our first plastic lightsaber tantrum in a Target aisle is making his Comic-Con debut. GEORGE. LUCAS. Yes, that George Lucas.

On Sunday, July 27, Comic-Con International will roll out the red carpet to The Maker himself, along with visionary directors Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) and Doug Chiang (design god of the Star Warsprequels and beyond), for a once-in-a-fandom panel celebrating the upcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. And in case that wasn’t wild enough, Queen Latifah—yes, Queen Latifah—is hosting the conversation.

Where: Hall H

When: Sunday, July 27,2015 10:00-11:00am

Who: George Lucas, Guillermo del Toro, Doug Chiang

Moderator: Queen. Freaking. Latifah.

The Panel:

“A Sneak Peek at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art”
Not only will the panel showcase sneak previews from the museum opening in 2026, it’ll take us on a deep dive into the evolution of visual storytelling—from ancient cave drawings to comics, murals, film, and every hand-drawn frame in between.

Why This Matters to Us:

Star Wars was introduced to the world at SDCC back in the ‘70s. Now, nearly 50 years later, the circle is complete: George Lucas is back, not just to revisit the past, but to build the future of fandom. The Lucas Museum isn’t just another Hollywood shrine—it’s a tribute to storytelling itself, housing everything from Norman Rockwell originals to Jack Kirby, Frida Kahlo, R. Crumb, and even Dorothea Lange. Oh, and yes—there will be props, costumes, and concept artfrom the galaxy far, far away.

David Glanzer from Comic-Con said it best:

“To have Mr. Lucas return—this time to debut the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art—is a true full-circle moment.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Can We Talk About This Panel for a Second?

George Lucas:

The reason we do what we do. Enough said.

Guillermo del Toro:

A monster-loving maestro with a heart as big as Jabba’s sail barge.

Doug Chiang:

The guy who literally designed the prequels (and half the stuff in The Mandalorian you drool over).

Queen Latifah:

A pop culture powerhouse bringing the energy to match this Mount Rushmore of nerd icons.

TL;DR – Why You Can’t Miss This:

This isn’t just another panel. It’s a once-in-a-generation, fandom-defining, Hall H Temple of Geekdom moment. You bring the popcorn—we’ll bring the feels. This one’s going straight into the Saturday Morning Cereal time capsule.

Catch us in line (probably crying).
