To celebrate its 50th anniversary, JAWS returns to the big screen in a remastered release—featuring special IMAX® screenings starting Thursday, August 28 at 4PM (local time), followed by a nationwide rollout on August 29.
Synopsis:
When the seaside town of Amity is terrorized by a monstrous great white shark, the local police chief (Roy Scheider), a young marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss), and a hardened shark hunter (Robert Shaw) band together to stop the killing. Hey folks, Marke here.
Fans of our Saturday Morning Cereal podcast may already know this—but I’ve never seen JAWS. Not kidding. I fully get its place in cinematic history. I know it created the summer blockbuster and paved the way for everything I love (Star Wars, Superman, Robocop, Terminator). But if I may offer a half-decent excuse: I’m just a few years shy of 50, so I wasn’t old enough to catch JAWS in theaters and VHS and picture tube just didn’t seen like “enough”. I was old enough for JAWS 3D, and while I remember the spectacle… let’s just say it didn’t exactly leave the same mark.
But now—finally—I get to make things right. In IMAX for that BBE (Big Boat Energy)
Yes, I will be watching JAWS for the very first time this summer.
And yes, we’re dedicating an episode to it:
“Marke Finally Watches JAWS.”
