Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon.
This week we talk all about the new way of making movies, from the sequels and re-boots of the big studios to the mini- and micro-budget crowdfunded straight-to-streaming gems that every artist can now attempt. It ain’t easy entertaining all of us, but some people just can’t stop themselves from trying, not even when the big studios say “No thank you, please. Seriously.” For a couple examples, we chat with longtime Hollywood veteran Scott Frazelle about his brand new horror feature Moggy Creatures and how he’s trying to find the time and budget to make it himself, plus our old friend director Bradley Weatherholt, whose own independent documentary The Prequels Strike Back has just been released. Want to know how to make a movie when your name isn’t Abrams, Whedon, or Cameron? These guys are living it, and they’ll tell you! Just remember, we the audience have never had it better.
Hosted by Dan “Grim” Shea and Johnny Heck, featuring Marke.
