The Comic-Con Registration and Preregistration can be, at best, a tedious exercise in futility, and at worst, Satan’s taint. But here’s some good news — you don’t have to log in at 8:00:00:01 registration morning to get your passes anymore! The (maybe) bad news is that it’s now a random process. If you attended Comic-Con last year as an “Attendee” you will be eligible for the the Preregistration Sale coming up in a few weeks. You’ll have the same Member ID as last year (but you better log in to make sure it’s still there) and you’ll be assigned a special code. 24hours before the day of the sale you be emailed that special code and the link to get to the right place. At 7:00am the day of the sale (TBD) you can log in with your member ID and pass code and get in the virtual waiting room. At 9am on the day of the sale (TBD) everyone in the waiting room will be RANDOMLY assigned a place in line and then the sale officially begins. So it looks like you’ll have a 2hour window to log in without sacrificing your place in line because no matter when you log on, you’ll have a an equal and RANDOM chance of getting a place in line. I’ll say that again… it DOES NOT matter WHEN you log in with you pass code as long as you log in before the the deadline. It could be 7:05 or 8:45 and you’ll have an equal and RANDOM placement. So this takes the frustration out of the process but leaves you with just a hint of that epic stress we have all come to love.
*If you didn’t attend last year as an “Attendee” you’ll have to wait for the “Open Registration” a few weeks after the Preregistration. You’ll still need a SDCC Member ID and if don’t already have one, get one here, but hurry, Member ID’s are free but they can stop giving out new ones anytime!
